February 11 Changing Our Lives - Week 6Alright, are you ready for this week's weigh in results? *DRUM ROLL* Krystal lost 3 pounds and Jason lost 3.5. We both had a really good week and are very proud of what we did. I know I worked SUPER HARD at the gym, and Jason just worked super hard...he pulled 80 hours at work last week so he hasn't had time to make it to the gym. So, new totals... Krystal has lost 15 pound and Jason has lost 18, putting us at 270.5 and 290, respectively. Hope everyone has a great week! Tip from my trainer, WATCH THE CARBS!!! Good luck!!! February 04 Changing Our Lives - Week 5So we are starting off week five pretty well. In week 4 I lost 2 pounds, and Jason lost 2.5. We are exactly 20 pounds apart at 273.5 and 293.5. I am really getting good at the cardio thing. When I started working out I could not even do 1 mile on the elliptical. Now, I have it down to 11 minutes. I'm shooting for 9 next time I work out. I am really proud of myself. I really enjoy working out. Never thought I would say that. Jason seems to enjoy it too. Here's to motivation and an excellent week 5!!! Good luck to everyone! January 29 Changing Our Lives - Week 4So last week was basically a repeat of week 2. I lost 1 lb. and Jason lost 2lbs. It was a rough week for me. I had a lot of things going on with work and kind of retreated to comforting myself with food. At least I didn't gain. This week I really need to regain my focus so I can start losing a better amount each week. Jason is doing well. I think his only real problem is portion control. But we try to keep each other in line. Looking at it on the bright side -- since we've started this new life style I have lost 10 pounds and Jason has lost 12 pounds. That's 22 pounds that is out of our life!!! Good luck to everyone this week! January 21 Changing Our Lives - Week 3Well, just as I suspected...the weight didn't come off quite as much this week. I lost 1 pound and Jason lost 2.5. It has been a rough week. We've had some bad weather which hindered us getting to the gym as much as we would have liked to. So our new weights to begin week 3 are:
Krystal - 276.5
Jason - 298
I think Jason is excited to have gotten out of the 300 range. I am hoping to lose a lot more this week. I think this past week has been a sort of adjustment period for my body, so I'm looking forward to hopefully having bigger results in week 3. January 15 Changing our lives - Week 2Okay, so yesterday morning was our weigh in for our first week. I lost a total of 8 pounds and Jason lost 7.5. We both feel extrememly excited about our numbers, but we know they are very big and the weight probably will not continue to come off as fast. We went to the gym last night and both worked out with personal trainers. I have to tell you, it is very embarrassing to stand in front of a guy who is lean and muscular and have him weigh you and measure you. I was so ashamed of myself. And the thing is, he was very respectful...never made any comments or anything, but seeing the numbers and him looking at them, was so overwhelming for me. I can't believe I have let myself go this much. But, all I can do at thispoint is try my hardest to make a change. As for Jason, he will have his first "official" personal trainer workout on Friday (last night was a free sample if you will). It definitely makes a big difference having a personal trainer. I know a lot of times it's hard to afford, and trust me we barely can. But to have a person standing in front of you that you know is showing you the right way to do things...and holds you accountable to what you are trying to accomplish...it makes a huge difference. It is the extra motivation I need to keep me going. January 13 Biggest Loser Million Pound MatchupMy husband and I are entering the "Biggest Loser Million Pound Matchup". I want to lose 135 pounds and my husband wants to lose 108 pounds. Our goal together is to lose 243 pounds.
We are committing to losing weight because we want to be healthy. We currently have one son who is 14 months old and we plan to have more children in the near future. Growing up, our parents didn't teach us about the importance of exercise and eating right. So we want to change the cycle with our children. We are entering this contest because winning a trip to LA is great motivation for wanting to lose weight and get in shape. We will be successful because there is not an option to fail. We have committed to each other that this is the year we change our lives. We our doing it for our family and our future, but most importantly for ourselves. We want to be healthy, and set a good example for our son and future children. We should win this contest because we have what it takes to be successful. We can lean on each other for support every day, hold each other accountable, and provide each other with continuous motivation. With these tools we will lose all 243 pounds!!! Changing my life - Week 1This past week I have learned so much about myself. See, my husband and I decided that we really want to lose weight this time. We've done "diets" in the past, never with any luck. Why? Because a diet isn't a life changing event. I discovered that you have to change your life first...make a new lifestyle in order to achieve what you really want in life. Last Monday morning my husband and I weighed in...I weighed 285.5 pounds and my husband 308.
So, what have I changed in my life in the last week? After reading the book, The Biggest Loser, I learned about how to eat in order to lose weight, but still not feel deprived. And I have to tell you, it works! This is the first time in my life that I have tried to lose weight and not immediately felt that I was depriving myself. That feeling in the past has led me to binge eat and then feel like a complete failure. This time, I feel great! I have had more energy in the past week than I have had in a VERY long time. So what have I done? I have started monitoring my caloric intake. I have a notebook where I write down everything I eat; it's called "Krystal's Get Fit Book". My husband and I are eating whole foods whenever possible, focusing a lot on fruits and vegetables. We are also putting a lot of effort into monitoring portion sizes. I have measured or weighed just about everything we put in our mouths to learn what proper portion size is. We have also begun eating about 5 meals a day. We make sure to get up in time for breakfast before we leave the house, and then try to space out our meals to every 3 hours.
In addition to monitoring what we are eating, we joined a gym, which works out well for us because it has a child care center inside. So I don't have to worry about finding a sitter for Carter if we want to go work out. Yesterday I met with a personal trainer who taught me a lot about how my body works, what I need to do to lose weight, and realistically how long it will take me to achieve my goals. I liked what he had to say and how motivating he was, so I signed on to meet with a personal trainer once a week for the next year. I'm really excited about beginning to work out next week.
Jason will hopefully be meeting with a personal trainer in the next week. His work schedule is a little hard to maneuver around with him traveling so much. He also has a book to write down everything he eats; although I'm not positive he's as committed to his book as I am to mine.
I'll let you know how the weigh in goes in the morning. We are having a friendly competition between the two of us. We are going by % weight lost, just like on The Biggest Loser show. If I win 4 weeks in a row, he has to buy me a spa package. Not sure what his prize will be if he wins 4 weeks in a row, but honestly....I don't see that happening. =) |
